Lemongrass oil is extracted from the leaves of Citratus
flexuosus, a tropical grass indigenous to Southeast Asia. The fragrant
lemony flavour is distinctive in Thai cuisine, and is also used in
savory dishes throughout south east Asia. The essential oil is thought
to repel mosquitos and flies. It can be used as a topical antiseptic
and antifungal agent, as a warming remedy for aching muscles and joints,
and to stimulate sluggish circulation and low energy.
Athlete's food - add 3 drops of Lemongrass oil and 3 drops
of Tea Tree oil to a footbath of warm water. Soak the feet for 5-10
minutes. Dry the affected areas with a clean towel and apply undiluted
Lemongrass oil directly to the affected area. Cover with adhesive
bandages. Repeat this process 2-3 times per day until the infection
is cleared.
Low energy, tiredness - add 3 drops of Lemongrass to 1
tablespoon of vegetable oil and massage into feet and calves using stokes
that move up toward the heart. Repeat this process in a similar way
for the arms. An invigorating effect can be achieved by vaporizing 3
drops of Lemongrass oil.
